ABOUT ME

My name is Ben Wieland. Originally from Kansas City, I'm a current first-year undergraduate student at the University of Virginia living in Charlottesville. I am currently pursuing a B.S. in Statistics with a concentration in data science, along with a minor in history. I plan to also obtain a M.S. in Data Science from Virginia's School of Data Science.

Relevant skills and experience:
- Data manipulation, cleaning, and analysis utilizing R and RStudio statistical software packages.
- Data visualization using ggplot2 in R, along with more rudimentary software like Microsoft Excel.
- Graphic design using Adobe Photoshop.
- Video editing and production using iMovie and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Live video hosting, production, and management using Facebook Live and Instagram Live.
- Site management experience with the WordPress suite and its add-ons, such as Elementor and Yoast SEO.
- News writing, sports writing, and feature writing experience including work as an writer and editor for a Pacemaker Award-winning website, contributor for a Sports Illustrated affiliate, and writer for University of Virginia basketball coverage.
- Social media management experience running Instagram accounts, Twitter accounts, and Facebook pages, reaching thousands of viewers with each post.
